The Grant at a Glance

5 winners will each recieve:

  • $2,770: Total
  • $1,470: One-year Gorilla Researcher Standard Subscription, including access to premium tools Game Builder, Shop Builder and Multiplayer
  • $300: Cash from Gorilla (for example, for participant recruitment or to buy extra Gorilla tokens)
  • $1,000: Support package from our team including a study building session with a Gorilla Research Specialist and support setting up your account

Submit:

  1. Research proposal, including information on your research aims and background, and the design you plan to use for your study. In text citations are encouraged, but you don't need full references (max. 500 words)
  2. Overview of how winning this grant would support your research (max. 150 words)
  3. Your contact information, including name, email, university

Conditions:
This grant is open to researchers worldwide and there will be a total of 5 winners.

If you win, you’ll be asked to take part in a blog post and our Gorilla Presents webinar series, once you've had time to build your study and collect data.


FAQ:

Do you have any tips for writing my application? We ran a webinar last year where our team, plus two previous grant winners, share what makes a great grant application. You can watch it here.

Can I apply more than once? Due to high levels of interest and in the interest of fairness, we're restricting applications to one per person.

Do you run other grants schemes? Yes! If you registered for this grant, we'll send you an email when our next grants scheme opens, or you can register for our main grants mailling list to keep up to date.

How will the winners be decided? Members of the Gorilla team will blind review and score each entry for Motivation, Feasibility of Methodology, and Research Impact.

When will I hear back? Applications close end of day Sunday April 20th 2025. We'll email everyone who applies to let you know the result of your application by late May.

When will my one-year Gorilla subscription start if I win? You can expect your subscription to run from approximately May 2025 - May 2026, but we can delay your subscription start by a few months if needed.

What can I spend the cash prize on? The cash prize is a great opportunity to purchase more Gorilla tokens or participant credits to support your research. However, the only condition is that you use the money to support your research.
