Throughout my PhD, I used an attentional task called the Flanker task to study how children respond to distractors. Using Gorilla, I was able to detect very small reaction-time differences online with data from more than 200 children.

I was interested in exploring whether higher reported levels of bilingualism were associated with improved inhibitory and attentional control. Using Gorilla, I could deploy classic behavioural tasks online and analyse individual differences within a bilingual sample. Without its easy-to-use interface, I would likely still be collecting data.

I work on retrieval practice and long-term retention of information, particularly how practising part of an integrated memory affects the rest of it.
